Darren Kenny Caffrey, community advocate and director for Just Ask. My relationship with Declan and his work spans 25 years. I first became involved with Declan's work at the age of 7 when I attended youth groups that he was running. I later became a junior leader under Declan before volunteering as a senior leader on summer camps,eventually being invited to be a community representative on an advisory committee which then lead to me being invited on to the board of directors for Just Ask.
I have worked as a youth worker in Dublins inner city since 2006. In this time I have worked closely with Declan and his team and have gained a great admiration to the work and commitment of the project. I believe that the after schools support along with all the the other interventions and family support provided by Just Ask is essential for the young people within Dublins inner city area. I was very happy to be part of the board of Just Ask and support the project carry out their work
I have a background in business advisory services to startups, small business and non profits largely in the US. On returning to Ireland joined The Giving Circle of Ireland and through this work I met Declan Keenan and learned about the amazing and transformative work at Just-Ask. I am passionate about making big change on small budgets. Delighted to join the Board to support Just-Ask’s mission and growth opportunities.
I have worked in the Dublin 1 and 7 School Completion Programme for the last 20 years. The programme was established to provide support to young people in their progress through the education system. Through this work, I have witnessed the invaluable intervention and support provided by the Just Ask project. The SCP enjoys a close collaborative relationship with Just Ask and the young people with whom we work benefit daily from the community based approach taken by the project. It was a privilege to be asked to contribute to the management of the Just Ask project.
I am a Special needs assistant for 7 Years mainly working with disadvantages youths. I am currently studing Psychotherapy and Counseling in University I have been volunteering within Just Ask for the past 8 years. I am an original member of the board of management. I have spent a lot of time doing sports and activities with the youths within Just Ask
