Denis O’Reilly talks to the TY students about opportunity.
This October, Just ASK is once again working with St. Paul’s CBS Secondary School “The Brunner” to support their Transition Year students in finding meaningful work experience placements.
For many young people, work experience is a highlight of TY. It provides a chance to step outside the classroom, explore interests, and get a taste of the working world. For the students we support in Dublin’s north west inner city, it can be even more powerful — a life-changing opportunity to imagine new possibilities for their future.
Last year, many of the students who took part in their placements came back hugely inspired — with some discovering new passions and others setting their sights on careers they had never considered before.
This year, the range of interests is as wide-ranging as it is exciting:
- Theatre production
- Sports
- Medicine / Doctor
- Engineering
- Entrepreneurship
- IT & Programming
- Restaurant owner / Chef
- Cyber Security
- Astrophysics
- Aviation / Pilot
The two placement weeks are:
- Week 1: 6th – 10th October
- Week 2: 13th – 17th October
We are reaching out to our community, friends, and corporate supporters to ask:
Can you, or someone you know, offer one of these students a placement?
Even a week in your workplace can have a lasting impact – building confidence, sparking ambition, and showing these young people what’s possible.
If you’d like to get involved, please contact us at barbara.oconnell@just-ask.ie.
By opening your doors, you’ll be opening up opportunities that could change a young person’s future.
